Privacy
What the app does with a location, and what it does not do with anything.
Nothing is tracked
No accounts, no analytics, no advertising identifiers, no profile, and no history of your drives leaving the phone. Road4Me has no server of its own that stores anything about you, so there is nothing to hand over, sell or lose.
Your location is used on the phone, while you are driving, to work out what is ahead of you. It is not kept as a record of where you have been.
Location
- Used while a drive is running to place you on the road, measure how far away things are, and decide what is worth mentioning.
- Used in the background during a drive, which is what lets the app keep talking while your navigation app is on screen. iOS shows its own indicator while this is happening.
- Searches for places near you are sent to Apple Maps as part of the search itself. That is Apple's service and Apple's privacy policy applies to it.
- Recent destinations, saved places, your home address and the parked-car point are kept on the phone.
What is fetched, and from where
- Apple Maps — routes, place searches and map tiles.
- Wikipedia — the description of a place, requested by its coordinates when the app is about to mention it.
- Camera data — the speed-camera database, downloaded by country and stored on the phone so warnings work without a signal.
Purchases
The paid tier is handled by Apple's App Store. Road4Me sees whether a subscription is active; it never sees a payment detail.
Children
The app is not directed at children and collects nothing from them.
